ppfl 08/09 - the rules

1. Registration
Applications to participate in Philpott's Phantasy Football League (PPFL) can be made by at www.ppfl.co.uk
2. Manager Details
Managers are required to supply their name; to choose a name for their team (this can be any combination of letters up to 40 characters - but not including special characters such as ! & * etc). The Judges reserve the right to disqualify any team name which, in their opinion, is obscene, racist or likely to cause offence.
3. Picking a Squad
The Manager is required to purchase a squad of 11 players and a manager, with a collective value not exceeding £51 million. This squad must consist of 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 3 midfielders, 3 strikers and a manager (for 4-3-3 formation) or 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers and 1 manager (for 4-4-2 formation).
The 18 transfers may be made at anytime throughout the season(with a limit of 3 per calendar month), but must be submitted before kick-off to score points. This feature gives Managers the chance to make transfers to account for injuries, suspensions and lack of form. Transfers can only be made Monday to Friday of each week during the season.
4. Making Transfers
During the course of the PPFL season, a Manager has the right to transfer up to 18 players.
These transfers can be made at any time and newly-bought players are eligible for selection immediately after the transfer is complete.
A maximum of 3 of your transfer allocation can be made in any one calendar month.
If a player moves between clubs in the Premiership, any PPFL teams containing that player will be unaffected and the player in question will continue to score points for such PPFL teams despite playing for his new Premiership club. You may therefore continue to employ him while at his new club or transfer him out if you no longer wish to keep him.
If a player in your squad leaves the Premiership you must sell him and buy a replacement to avoid losing out on potential points.
Subject to the overall criteria, there is no limit to the number of players you can buy from any one Premiership club.
Transfers can be made to change the formation of your team to 4-4-2 from 4-3-3 and vice versa.
5. Scoring
The points for players playing in weekend matches (Saturday thru to Monday) will be calculated and credited to managers by lunchtime (UK time) on the subsequent Wednesday. The points for players playing in weekday games (Tuesday thru to Friday) will be calculated and credited to managers' team totals by mid-afternoon the following Wednesday.
