Engineering Judgement

Engineering Judgments are widely used in the field of passive fire protection to address conditions not covered explicitly by UL or other fire and heat resistance testing. Extensive testing is carried out through 3rd party laboratories in both through penetration and construction joint firestop applications. These applications once tested and passed are then certified and given approvals under the standards that it has been tested. However, there will always be situations when a current tested system doesn’t accommodate a particular scenario that may present itself as all construction projects are different.
